Call for Organizations

The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) invites applications from organizations interested in hosting interns through the 2026 Translation Academy Internship Program.
This program connects LTI Korea Translation Academy alumni with organizations engaged in the international publication, distribution, and promotion of Korean literature and cultural content. Host organizations receive financial support while providing practical professional experience for early-career translators.
Program Overview
n Program Name: 2026 Translation Academy Internship Program
n Program Period: March–November 2026
n Program Description: Matching Translation Academy graduates with organizations seeking interns specializing in Korean literature and cultural content, with financial support for personnel costs
n Eligible Organizations:
- Literature Sector: Publishers, literary agencies, and related organizations
- Cultural Content Sector: Content production or distribution companies, organizations or associations, and related institutions
| Ineligible Organizations: Organizations may be deemed ineligible if they: - Have outstanding national or local tax liabilities or unpaid statutory social insurance contributions - Are listed as delinquent employers due to unpaid wages under applicable labor law - Are subject to restrictions on receiving public subsidies due to fraudulent or improper conduct - Are considered inappropriate for participation due to significant social, legal, or ethical issues inconsistent with program objectives
Preferred Organizations: Preference will be given to organizations that: - Actively promote Korean literature or cultural content internationally - Demonstrate commitment to attracting top talent by offering competitive compensation packages for the interns - Provide structured training appropriate for early-career translators |
n Supported Languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese
n Support Details:
- Number of Interns: Up to 5 interns per organization
- Duration: 1–6 months
* Internship must be completed by November 2026
* Internships are generally based on a full-time schedule (approximately 40 hours per week).
* On-site, remote, or hybrid work arrangements are permitted, as specified in the employment agreement between the organization and the intern.
- Financial Support: Financial support increases proportionally with internship duration, reducing the organization's costs for longer-term placements. (For example, a six-month placement would receive a monthly subsidy of KRW 1,800,000, for a total of KRW 10,800,000.)

* The participating organization is responsible for:
· Paying the intern’s monthly salary
· Covering all statutory employer contributions required under applicable labor law (e.g., insurance, pension contributions, or similar obligations). The LTI Korea subsidy applies to base salary only and does not cover statutory employer contributions
* Intern salaries must comply with minimum wage requirements. Organizations offering competitive compensation will receive priority consideration.
- Payment Schedule: LTI Korea will reimburse the organization within one month after submission of the final report and supporting documents following internship completion. Participation in the program satisfaction survey is required.
n Intern Work Responsibilities:

- After the organization is selected, LTI Korea will recruit interested graduates for up to 3 weeks; if no graduate expresses interest, the placement may be canceled.
- After candidate recruitment, the participating organization shall conduct its own selection process in accordance with its stated selection criteria; if no suitable candidate is identified, the placement may be cancelled.
- Organizations should set the proposed internship start date with sufficient lead time for the administrative process, including organization selection, candidate recruitment, intern selection, and execution of the agreement.
- Organizations must notify LTI Korea once an intern has been selected, and the internship may begin only after the agreement with LTI Korea has been executed.
Participating Organization Obligations
n Compliance with Employment Conditions
- Organizations must employ and manage interns in compliance with all applicable labor and related laws, and must pay at least the applicable minimum wage
- Organizations must fulfill all statutory employer obligations, including required social insurance or other mandatory employer contributions, where applicable.
n Relevance of Internship Duties
- Internship duties must remain directly relevant to the purpose of the program. Duties should be limited to work connected to the publication, translation, distribution, or promotion of Korean literature or cultural content, including: translation and localization, publishing or content planning, rights-related administrative support, marketing and outreach.
n Notification of Changes or Early Termination
- Host organizations must promptly notify LTI Korea of any significant changes, including early resignation by the intern, changes to employment terms or working arrangements, or early completion or termination of the internship.
n Final Report and Satisfaction Survey
- Following completion of the internship, host organizations must submit a final report within three weeks and participate in the program satisfaction survey conducted in November–December 2026.
- Failure to comply with these requirements may negatively affect eligibility for future program applications.

- Application form (prescribed format, signed by an authorized representative)
- Proof of legal business registration (or equivalent documentation)
- Certificate of tax compliance
- Template employment contract for the intern position
- Internship job description, including principal duties, required qualifications, and working arrangements
- Intern selection criteria and evaluation rubric, including assessment items and scoring standards
* If any supporting documents are not originally in English or Korean, they must be accompanied by an official or certified translation into English or Korean.
* If any submitted information is found to be false, if the applicant is later found to be ineligible, or if it is confirmed that the applicant has received funding from another institution for the same purpose, support may be withdrawn even after the agreement has been executed.
n Selection Method: Applications will be reviewed and selected by a panel of experts.
n Selection Criteria: Comprehensive evaluation of the following (total 100 points)
- Organizational capacity (20 points)
- Alignment with program objectives (30 points)
- Appropriateness of the proposed budget and number of interns requested (30 points)
- Contribution to the international reach and circulation of Korean literature and cultural content (20 points)
