Call for Organizations




The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) invites applications for the 2026 Translation Academy Translation Support Program for Korean Literature & Cultural Content.

This program supports the sustainable professional activity of LTI Korea Translation Academy alumni and enhances the quality of translations of Korean literature and cultural content by connecting applicants with trained translators from the Translation Academy.


Program Overview

n Program Name: 2026 Translation Academy Translation Support Program for Korean Literature & Cultural Content

n Program Period: March–November 2026

n Program Description: The program supports the translation and copyediting of Korean literature and cultural content into foreign languages by connecting applicants with translators trained through the LTI Korea Translation Academy.

n Support Method: After selecting the works to be supported, LTI Korea matches each project with Translation Academy alumni translators and copyeditors and directly pays translation and copyediting fees according to its internal rates.

n Eligible Applicants:

- Cultural Content Sector: Individuals, companies, organizations, and institutions involved in the production or distribution of Korean cultural content

- Literature Sector: Publishers, literary agencies, and related organizations

Ineligible Applications:

Applications will not be considered if:

- The same work has already received or is currently receiving translation or copyediting support from another institution or public funding program.

- The work has already been translated through another LTI Korea support program.

- The submitted work or content is deemed inappropriate in light of the purpose of the program.


Preferred Applicants:

Preference may be given to organizations whose activities demonstrate a clear connection to the promotion of Korean literature or cultural content.

n Eligibility: Applicants must own the intellectual property (IP) rights to the submitted work or have secured the necessary rights through licensing, transfer, or contractual arrangements.

* Private companies are limited to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized enterprises as defined under applicable law.

n Supported Languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese

n Supported Fields:

Important Notes for Applicants (Please Review Carefully)

① Application Limit: Maximum of 5 projects per organization (Cultural Content + Literature combined)

② Language Selection: Up to 3 languages per project, listed in order of preference

③ Completion Requirement: Only projects fully completed/produced as of the application date are eligible

* Application Examples

- 3 webtoons + 2 film subtitles = 5 projects total

- 5 Reader's Reports only = 5 projects total

- 1 film subtitle + 1 Reader's Report + 1 author interview = 3 projects total

* Support is limited to translation activities directly linked to international publishing and rights promotion by publishers, agencies, or related institutions.

* Materials such as personal blog posts or general promotional articles that have little direct connection to rights or publishing activities are not eligible.

Participating Organization Obligations

n Submission of Translation Materials After Selection

- Selected organizations must submit all source files and reference materials required for translation within the specified deadline. Failure to submit materials on time may delay the start of translation, and any resulting schedule changes will be the responsibility of the applicant.

- (Content Sector)

* (Video) Korean subtitle files must be submitted before translation begins. Translation cannot begin without Korean subtitle files

* (Video) If timecode-embedded foreign language subtitles are desired, timecode-embedded Korean subtitle files must be submitted.

* (Webtoons) Manuscripts (image, PDF files, etc.) and related materials must be submitted.

* (Other Cultural content) Final proofread Korean source files must be submitted in a format allowing the translation volume to be calculated.

- (Literature Sector)

* Translation source manuscripts must be final proofread Korean source files in a format allowing volume calculation

n Credit Attribution: All supported translations must include acknowledgment of LTI Korea’s support and credit the translator.

n Final Report and Satisfaction Survey: Participating organizations must submit a final report within three weeks after receiving the translation, and participate in the program satisfaction survey conducted between November and December.

* Failure to comply may negatively affect eligibility for future program applications.

* Translation delivery schedules will be determined in consultation with LTI Korea depending on the volume and difficulty of the work. Translation deadlines are calculated from the date the applicant provides the final files to be translated.

* The program may close early if the budget is exhausted.

* Above program schedules and details may change depending on circumstances.

n Required Documents:

- Application form (prescribed format, signed by an authorized representative)

- Documentation verifying rights ownership (In English or Korean translation)

o For Literature Sector: Copyright documentation or proof of rights

o For Content Sector: Proof of intellectual property ownership or licensing rights

- Additional materials helpful for evaluation (optional)

Examples of Acceptable Rights Verification Documents:

- Copyright registration certificate (if available)

- Contract with the original author, content producer, or rights holder specifying translation and distribution rights

- Official platform URL (webtoon platforms, film streaming sites, etc.) confirming the content source (including author information and publication date)

- For individual creators: screenshots or other materials demonstrating authorship or the production process


Important Notes:

- If any supporting documents are not originally in English or Korean, they must be accompanied by an official or certified translation into English or Korean.

- Applicants are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of submitted materials. LTI Korea may request additional verification if necessary.

- If submitted information is found to be false or if significant eligibility issues are identified, selection may be cancelled.

- Applicants bear all legal responsibility for copyright disputes arising from submitted materials.

- Even if IP verification documents are submitted, LTI Korea may decline or cancel selection if potential intellectual property disputes are identified.

- If it is confirmed that the same project has received funding from another institution, support may be cancelled even after an agreement has been signed.

n Selection Method: Applications will be reviewed and selected by a panel of experts.

n Selection Criteria: Comprehensive evaluation of the following (total 100 points)

- Organizational capacity (20 points)

- Specificity and feasibility of the proposed utilization plan (30 points)

- Artistic merit of the submitted work and its international potential (30 points)

- Suitability for support, including potential international market demand (20 points)
