The male protagonist, formerly a sales manager at a major corporation, is demoted overnight to a regular employee. At his lowest point, he encounters a woman with whom he shared feelings sixteen years prior, realizing that some things never truly fade with time.

The collection includes nine stories exploring themes of redemption, memory, and human connection, including "Cecilia" about university reunion gossip, "Half Moon" about a high school student fleeing debt collectors, "Meat" about a housewife confronting expired products, and "How Cats Are Made" about a master cat finder whose life is changed by a child lacking familial affection.

Kim Keum Hee김금희

Kim Keum Hee debuted in 2009 with the short story “Your Document,” which won the Hankook Ilbo Literary Award. She has published one novel, Kyung-ae’s Heart, and two short story collections, Sentimentality Only Lasts So Long and Too Bright Outside for Love. She has won the Sin Dong-yup Prize for Literature, the Munhakdongne Young Writers’ Award, and the Hyundae Literary Award. The Japanese translation of Too Bright Outside for Love was published by Shobunsha in 2018.
