Description 작품 소개
LEE Seong-Bok is a poet’s poet. His Edge of That Summer is one of the anthologies that has most influenced the young poets in Korea. His poems show the malaise of our times, while at the same time disclosing the maternal instinct of embracing the indignities of that world. Moreover, he has created, in this collection, the drama and sensibility for love poems that are suitable for the contemporary era. In On the Edge of That Summer, with his grammar of love poems, he presents to the readers a much deeper and fundamental and universal understanding of the world in an exceptionally lyrical and refreshing language. Without discarding the “I” but becoming one with the world, and without rhetorical ostentatiousness, he points out the difficulty of being sincere with oneself and others, while ultimately sharing simplicity that is derived from the depths.
Born in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do in 1952. He studied French literature as an undergraduate and a graduate student at Seoul National University. In 1977 he made his debut in the journal, Literature and Society. His poetry anthologies include When Will A Rolling Rock Awaken? Mt. Geumsan, South Sea On the Edge of That Summer, Memories of a Holly, Ah, Those Without A Mouth and The Moon Has Watermarks On Its Forehead. He is the recipient of KIM Soo Young and Sowol Poetry Literary Awards
