2025년 4월 4일 오전 11시, 우리는 한 사람의 목소리에만 귀를 기울였다. 그가 오랫동안 읽어 내려가던 판결문을 드디어 마무리한다. 그 어느 선고 때보다도 국민 눈높이에 맞춘 단어 선택과 논리 전개, 단정하고도 단호한 태도의 재판관을 우리는 주목할 수밖에 없었다. 이 영상을 수없이 반복하며 그의 이름을 기억했다. 그는 바로 헌법재판관 문형배다. (2018년 4월 19일 헌법재판관 임기를 시작하여 2025년 4월 18일 퇴임했다.) 지난 12월부터 우리 모두는 대한민국의 정체절명의 시간을 함께해오며 절망과 희망을 오가는 삶을 살았다. 우리에겐 따뜻한 위로와 더불어 올바른 길을 제시할 사람이 필요했는지도 모르겠다. 그렇게 우리 앞에 놓인 것이 바로 이 책 <호의에 대하여>다.
