“살아내는 일의 어려움과 아름다움”이 만드는 “긴 여운”(2025 젊은작가상 심사평)을 담아낸 단편소설 「바우어의 정원」으로 2025 젊은작가상을 수상하며 화제의 중심에 선 작가 강보라의 첫 소설집 『뱀과 양배추가 있는 풍경』이 출간되었다. 2021년 단편 「티니안에서」로 한국일보 신춘문예를 통해 데뷔한 후 4년 만에 펴내는 첫 단행본이지만, 수록된 7편의 작품은 이 작가의 기량이 신인 수준을 훌쩍 뛰어넘어 있음을 보여준다.
