The story follows an elderly couple afflicted with dementia. In 2015, the 78-year-old protagonist, Yoon Hee-ok, buries her recently deceased husband in their backyard. She seems to have prepared for his death long in advance. Yet after burying him, she went to the police station to report her husband missing. Why did she declare him missing rather than dead?
Through their lives, the author explores the debt, reckoning, and fulfillment of love, as memories race toward distant pasts while bodies rapidly approach mortality.
