In 1944, when Korea was still a Japanese colony and World War II was in its final stages, the whaling ship Yukimaru departs from Shimonoseki with the mission of supplying food to the Navy.

After a fierce battle, the Yukimaru loses engines and ends up adrift in the Pacific Ocean. As food and patience run out, the Koreans revolt against the Japanese and gain control. This story explores the abyss that every person must face when in an extreme situation and each one's capacity for adaptation.
