1998년 문예지 <문예중앙> 신인문학상에 시 <빙폭> 등 10편이 당선되어 문단에 등단한 시인 이영광의 『아픈 천국』. 묵직한 사색을 바탕으로 스스로를 벼리며 강건한 목소리로 단단한 시적 사유를 펼쳐온 저자의 세 번째 시집이다. 우리는 흔히 삶과 죽음은 반대 개념으로 이해하고 있다. 하지만 저자는 삶과 죽음이 병존하면서 서로를 감싸안음을 생생하게 그려보인다. 세상에 존재하는 아픔과 죽음과 불러내 그것과 한몸을 이루면서 뜨겁고 아름다운 시를 피워내고 있다. 삶과 죽음의 되풀이와 뒤엉킴에 대한 시적 깨달음을 힘있고 유려한 은율로 풀어낸다.
