Description 작품 소개

1996년 『문학과사회』로 등단한 작가 김연경의 세번째 장편소설. 『다시, 스침들』은 커피숍 모비딕에 드나들며 서로 스쳐 지나가는 사람들에 관한 이야기다.
모비딕의 사장을 포함한 다섯 명의 주요 인물들은 ‘모비딕’에서 커피를 마시며 창밖을 보거나 책을 읽거나 번역을 하거나 소설 창작 메모를 한다.
커피전문점을 둘러싼 도시의 일상적 풍경이 제시되고, 커피의 종류만큼이나 다양한 취향의 주체들에 관한 고현학(考現學)적인 묘사가 등장하고, 괴테·카뮈·보르헤스의 소설들에서 임응식의 사진 「구직(求職)」(1953)에 이르기까지 다양한 텍스트들이 작품 곳곳에 스며든다.
커피숍 모비딕은 삶과 소설을 잇고 생성하는 뫼비우스의 띠로서, 근자 보기 드문 참신하고 지적인 상상의 향연을 펼쳐낸다.
