한국 SF 최전선의 작가들이 판소리를 만났다!
판소리와 SF의 아찔한 컬래버레이션이 돋보이는 구픽의 다섯 번째 장르 앤솔러지

『판소리 에스에프 다섯 마당』은 『책에 갇히다』(김성일, 천선란 외 6인), 『책에서 나오다』(정보라, 박해울 외 5인), 『귀신이 오는 밤』(배명은, 전혜진 외 5인) 등 장르소설 최전선 작가들과의 다양한 협업으로 꾸준히 장르 앤솔러지를 출간하고 있는 구픽의 다섯 번째 작품이다.

풍부한 표현력, 사회비판적 소재, 뛰어난 예술성을 지닌 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 판소리. 이번 앤솔러지에서는 현재 가장 활발한 SF 소설가로 작품 활동 중인 다섯 명의 작가들이 한국의 판소리 열두 마당 중 자신에게 가장 큰 영감을 준 다섯 마당을 SF 단편으로 변주했다. 곽재식 작가는 현전 판소리 중 음악적, 문학적으로 가장 뛰어나다고 꼽히는 작품인 「춘향가」를 학교 교육 과정과 연계시켜 상상도 못 할 이야기를 펼쳐나가고, 김이삭 작가는 조선 후기 민중들의 비참한 삶을 풍자적으로 묘사한 「변강쇠가」에서 낭인(늑대인간) 소재를 뽑아내었으며, 김청귤 작가는 「심청가」의 배경과 부녀관계를 현실 SF로 뒤집어 새롭게 묘사해나간다. 또한 전혜진 작가는 전쟁으로 인해 피폐해진 백성의 삶과 권력욕에 물든 정치가들을 표현한 「적벽가」를 현대의 정치 상황과 선거로 풍자했으며, 박애진 작가는 고집불통에 구두쇠 옹고집 이야기인 「옹고집타령」을 스타 가수 호수의 이야기로 개작하여 완전히 다른 주제와 결론을 보여준다. 『판소리 에스에프 다섯 마당』은 한국인이기에 우리가 너무나 잘 알고, 때로는 고루하다고 생각했던 판소리 작품들이 동시대 SF 작가들의 독특한 상상력과 만나 어떤 독창적인 단편소설로 재탄생했는지 얼마든지 기대해도 좋을 만한 단편 작품집이다.

한편 『다섯 가지 세계: 하드 SF 단편선』(가제), 『어느 노동자의 모험: 프롤레타리아 장르 단편선』(가제) 등 구픽의 장르 앤솔러지는 올해도 계속 출간될 예정이다.

Author Bio 작가 소개

Jaesik Kwak’s writing career took off in 2006 following the TV adaption of his short story “Aria of Rabbit.” He has published a wide range of books including the sci-fi short story collections The Greatest Bet on Earth and The Final Last of the Ultimate End; the historical novels Princess of Shilla and Pirates, and Mosalgi; and the science books A Guide to Monster Science and Jaesik Kwak’s Germ Fair. He has a doctoral degree in engineering, and regularly appears on radio and TV to share stories about horror and monsters.
