1. Life
The news of his sudden death on July 23, 2022, from a cerebral hemorrhage due to a pre-existing condition was announced on Red Ice Studios on July 25th. He was 37 years old.
Jang had a pre-existing condition, and there was speculation that it was caused by overwork due to his usual workload, but it was found that the cause of death was not causal, but a brain hemorrhage caused by the pre-existing condition. The funeral was held at the family's home in accordance with the bereaved family's wishes.
A memorial park has since been built in his hometown of Gaebuk-myeon, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam.
A tribute was posted on the first episode of 'Solo Leveling' webtoon, saying that it was dedicated to Jang Jang-rak.
2. Writing
From March 2018 to December 2021, he created the webtoon “Solo Leveling” (completed) on Kakao Page. His previous works include “Beautiful Legend” and “Space Dandy” (co-authored by Park Sungwoo and Jang Sungrak (REDICE), published in Japan in 2014). Produced the Red Ice Studio webcomics “I'm the Only One Leveling Up,” “Justice for Villains,” “The Complete Reader's Perspective,” “King of Thieves,” “Space Dandy,” and “Beautiful Legend.”
