She was born in Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. She began her police career by passing the recruitment exam and became the first female homicide detective in South Korea's history at the age of 23. In 2021, she retired as chief of the criminal division.

With this book as a template to expand the content and change the style for Korean readers, he published another book of the same title in Korea in 2021. He also published a collection of prose, Looking at the Futility of Life (2022).
