Description
Humanitas Fiction Publishing House, initially a department of Humanitas Publishing House, was set up in August 2007. With its impressive portfolio of titles, including classic, modern, and contemporary authors, both Nobel laureates and debut writers, both bestsellers and literary works, Humanitas Fiction has already reached a wide and diverse public.
Humanitas Fiction Publishing House is focused on world literature and has so far initiated three major series: Raftul Denisei (Denisa’s Bookshelf), Cocktail and Thriller&Mystery. A Great Modern Authors Series, which includes the works of T.S. Eliot, James Joyce and Fernando Pessoa, among others, has started in 2010.
Launched in the spring of 2006, Denisa’s Bookshelf Series (the first and only personalized series in Romania) proves the fact that public success and literary value can and do go together. In Denisa’s Bookshelf Series, one can find novels and prose by established writers, winners and nominees of prestigious international prizes (Nobel, Booker, Pulitzer, Orange, Cervantes, etc.), next to those written by brilliant debut authors. It is an eclectic series, comprising bestsellers and cultured literature, and new translations of the classics. Denisa's Shelf Series includes contemporary and modern fiction by highly praised authors like Mikhail Bulgakov, J.M. Coetzee, Sarah Dunant, Dave Eggers, Jonathan Safran Foer, Joey Goebel, Ismail Kadare, Yasunari Kawabata, Daniel Kehlmann, Nicole Krauss, Guillermo Martínez, Yukio Mishima, Kate Morton, Care Santos, Diane Setterfield, Su Tong, John Updike, Kurt Vonnegut, Jeanette Winterson, or Mo Yan. One priority of the series is bringing to the spotlight great modern writers, such as Nikos Kazantzakis, John Fante, Thomas Mann, and Leo Perutz.
Also, author series are dedicated to Isabel Allende, Paulo Coelho, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Amos Oz, T.S. Eliot, and Herta Müller.
Humanitas Fiction Publishing House brings to the public’s attention about 100 foreign titles per year.
