Translator Bio λ²μκ° μκ°
Peace Pyunghwa Lee (she/they) is a queer, feminist, diasporic Korean-English literary translator, interfaith spiritual director, and intuitive tarot reader. A former Christian minister and theological educator, she now translates Korean literature that confronts the legacies of colonialism and imperialism and engages the politics of memory, exile, and resistance. Raised between South Korea, the Philippines, and the United States, she brings both a diasporic sensitivity and a sharply honed, textually trained eye to her work.
Recipient of the 2024 Daesan Foundation Translation Grant and the 2025 Kevin O’Rourke Prize in the Korea Times’ Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards, she is currently translating Hyun Ki-young’s three-volume epic O Jejudo as well as his short story collection The Last Teuri.
