This novel was originally published under the title The Love of Donhuwang, and the writer edited that previously published version and republished it in 2005 as The Love of Dunhuang. The story is divided into four parts: “The Love of Dunhuang,” “The Love of Loulan,” “The Stone Lion of Love,” and “A Woman in the Desert.” The main character is on a pilgrimage to find himself, and in beautiful prose, the writer portrays his journey from Dunhuang and Loulan, cities which flourished on the Silk Road, to the desert.
