박건웅

Park Kun-woong박건웅

Park Kun-woong has loved drawing and writing since childhood, and studied painting at Hongik University's College of Fine Arts. While at school he became interested in telling the untold stories of Korean modern history in graphic novel form. He won the Golden Apple at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava(BIB) 2025 for illustrations in a book, Sewol 1994-2014. Over the past 20 years, Park has created such works as Flower, The Story of Nogunri, Spring That Year, Jessie’s Story, The Time of Beasts, The Devil’s Diary, People of the Golden Apartment, and Paradise. In 2025 he published the collection of autobiographical essays I Am the Long Shadow of Those Who Dream. He is the recipient of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism Today’s Cartoon Award, Bucheon Cartoon Grand Prize General Cartoon Award, The Korean Publishers Association Best Book of Pleasure in Korea (BBPK), and the Korea Picture Book Award.
