Description 작품 소개

This novel by Sang Young Park was published in 2019. Composed of linked short stories, the novel includes “Jaehee,” “A Bite of Rock Fish, Taste the Universe,” “Late Rainy Season Vacation,” and the title story “Love in the Big City.” A work of queer fiction, which is an emerging genre in Korean literature, it explores the lives of a generation of young adults, offering a frank and engaging look at sexuality. Two directly linked vignettes, “Love in the Big City” and “Late Rainy Season Vacation,” depict the relationship between the HIV-positive narrator and Gyuho, a club bartender.

Author Bio 작가 소개

Recipient of the 2026 Arts Council Korea Literature Fellowship Sang Young Park was born in Daegu, South Korea in 1988. He launched his writing career by winning the 2016 Munhakdongne New Writer’s Award for “Searching for Paris Hilton.” He is the author of the short story collection The Tears of an Unknown Artist, or Zaytun Pasta (2018), the novel Love in the Big City (2019), Lie Like Lines(2021), and On Trust (2022), and the essay collection No Snacking Tonight (2020). Love in the Big City, an international bestseller translated into more than twenty languages. The novel was longlisted for the International Booker Prize, the Dublin Literary Award, and the Prix Médicis Étranger, and has been adapted into both a television series and a film, reaching audiences in over 190 countries worldwide. He has received major literary honors in Korea, including the Sin Dongyup Prize for Literature, the Heo Gyun Literary Award, the Young Writer Award (Grand Prize).
