Description 작품 소개

This is the first novel by Oh Sunyoung to be published in five years. This collection of eight stories portrays the lives of modern people who have lost their place of residence and are navigating life on the move, with a focus on relatable themes and perspectives. Her debut novel, “The Sunflower Wall”, tells the story of a girl who is forced to live a false life in a mural village. Through this, she exposes the pretentiousness of modern life and the false consciousness of disguised life. K, who has lost her name (business card) and is destined to become “roadkill”, a mother who accepted her husband’s infidelity and absence, and the ‘I’ who finds it difficult to understand that kind of mother “Traces for everyone”, a girl who foretells the roots of human violence and a catastrophic future “Sword”, and a father who has lost the all-encompassing encyclopaedia that would allow him to transcend the entrenched class distinctions that have been imposed upon him “Making an encyclopaedia”, are all part of the author’s observations on this kind of wandering. Underlying the epic allegory and perception of reality in The Sunflower Wall and eight other works, is the theme of instability in one’s community and the desires of modern people who are forced to live without the security of community kinship.
