
Kwon Bee-Young

Kwon Bee-Young made her literary debut in 1995 winning the Silla Literary Award. She continued to participate in literary clubs and published her first collection of short stories, Geu gyeourui uhwa (그 겨울의 우화 That Winter's Fable), in 2006. She became interested in the life of Princess Deokhye, the youngest daughter of Emperor Gojong, while traveling in Japan, and subsequently published the novel Deokyeongju (덕혜옹주 Princess Deokhye). The novel went on to sell more than 700,000 copies, was translated into five languages including Russian, and was made into a film in 2016.
