Lee Jae-Ik is a writer who reminds readers of the fundamental pleasure of literary imagination across diverse media.
1. Life
Lee Jae-Ik was born in 1975. He made his literary debut in 1997 with Jilju jilju jilju (질주 질주 질주 Run Run Run) in the monthly Munhak Sasang (Literature and Thought). Since then, he has written consistently, adapting novels into film scripts and writing web novels. In 2001, he became a radio program director and hosted a podcast with his colleagues.
2. Writing
Rather than adhering to traditional literary styles, Lee Jae-Ik writes fiction centered on witty and original subject matter. His works are often described as “page-turners” or as the work of a born storyteller, reflecting the kind of writing he aspires to create. He began writing web novels when the genre first emerged, exploring various new subject matters across a broad range of genres, ranging from historical fiction to romance. Instead of being bound by form, he employs various media to pioneer new frontiers in writing. This tendency is closely related to his professional experience. Lee has worked as a program director for the popular radio program Cultwo Show and has written several film scripts. He has also been active in related art fields, including music and film, while producing podcasts and YouTube videos. He has published several essay collections reflecting on his experiences. As such, his works are grounded in literary imagination shaped by an array of contemporary media.
