Born in Seoul in 1971, she studied educational technology at Ewha Womans University and animation at the California Institute of the Arts. Drawing on her experience in animation production, she creates picture books that feature unique characters and engaging storytelling. She gained recognition in 2005 when her book "Cloud Bread" was awarded the title of 'Illustrator of the Year' at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and in 2020, she received the "Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award," often referred to as the Nobel Prize for children's literature, bringing her international acclaim.
