Translator Bio 번역가 소개
Ainhoa Urquia Asensio is a lecturer of Contemporary Korean Culture and Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid. She combines her academic and outreach work with her role as a translator, reader, and literary scout for Korean literature. A member of the University Institute of Modern Languages and Translators and a graduate of the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, her translations have been awarded by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency. Her research has been funded by organizations such as the Academy of Korean Studies, and she is currently a member of the GREGAL research group: Japan-Korea-Catalonia/Spain Cultural Circulation, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, as part of her ongoing doctoral work on the expansion and circulation of Korean literature in Spain.
She has published over ten works as a translator, many of them with support from the LTI Translation and Publication Grant. Since 2020, she has been advising publishing groups, literary agencies, and independent publishers on the South Korean literary market, helping bring numerous successful works to the Spanish market. In 2024, she served as a jury member for the LTI Korea Award for Aspiring Translators and received a grant from the same institution to create the first Spanish-language podcast on Asian literature, set to launch in 2025.
Her presence on social media, where she has over 30,000 followers across various platforms, helps bring her translated works to a wide audience in the Spanish-speaking world.
She is currently working on her first book about Korean culture, set to be published in late 2026.
