Description 작품 소개

*A highly anticipated film adaptation of a beloved novel is set to hit theaters in early 2025, starring Ko A-sung, Byun Yo-han, and Moon Sang-min, with direction by Lee Jong-pil. The film is produced by The LAMP, ltd., the powerhouse behind A TAXI DRIVER (2017) and SAMJIN GROUP ENGLISH CLASS (2020).

The author has been celebrated and condemned for his attacks upon what he perceives as the humorlessness of contemporary Korean literature. PAVANE FOR A DEAD PRINCESS is his attack upon the beauty-fetish that reigns
over popular culture, detailing the relationship between a man with matinee idol good looks and the ugliest woman of the century. To complicate matters further, Park also includes a so-called “writer’s cut” of the same story, offering
alternate versions of the facts, giving the reader the opportunity to imagine all the different ways this same novel might have been written.
Titled PAVANE FOR A DEAD PRINCESS, this book draws its name from Maurice Ravel’s iconic piece, “Pavane pour une infante défunte,” which was inspired by Velázquez’s masterpiece, Las Meninas. The novel prominently features the twisted cover art of  Las Meninas, while the Pavane music takes on a vital role within the story. It is the heroine’s cherished musical preference, shared with the hero, and it becomes the evocative backdrop for their final meeting.
