Description 작품 소개

The Winner of the Grand Prize in the first EZ Book Green Planet Shami SF Eco Fairy Tale Contest
In a world overwhelmed by plastic, a new human, Homoplasticus, is born!

Homoplasticus springs from the author’s imagination of a child born with plastic properties in the future. In a world overwhelmed by plastic waste, Suji, a homoplasticus, comes to life through a genetic mutation caused by the surge in plastic pollution. Due to her unconventional appearance, Suji is abandoned by her parents, but she finds warmth and care with an elderly woman at Tree Bird Village on Gonui Island who discovers her. Suji’s transparent and glossy hair and skin get burnt when exposed to sunlight, so she always wraps herself up. The moments when she feels truly free are during the rain or when she dips into the water.

“Microplastics are nothing new. It wouldn’t be surprising even if a plastic baby were born. Don’t you think?”

Tree Bird Village, where Suji grows, believes in protecting the environment, while Buckland Factory Village claims that plastic is humanity’s greatest invention and is safe. The two villages contrast in many ways. However, as events unfold around the plastic human Suji, it becomes clear that the claims of Buckland Factory Village are not true. They shouldn’t be destroying the environment or generating waste since they claim they recycle, yet they are harming the environment. It would be disastrous if the future comes where humans are mutated and the environment is destroyed. Suji’s adventure speaks to readers about why it is crucial to protect the environment for the future, as a vital link in a huge chain.
