Description 작품 소개

A story about those who left and those left behind, sinking within themselves and waiting for the ‘after’ in the midst of disaster and subsequent loss

There are four main characters in the novella. ‘Mosu’ was a provincial government official, but after being dismissed, he now runs a beach motel. ‘Yeon’ dreams of a new life after meeting him after divorce. ‘Cheon’ is a theater actor who becomes so immersed in the play that he loses himself. ‘Hanna’ quits her job as an announcer due to an unexpected broadcast mistake. The novella alternately describes the stories of these four people through the mouths of ‘Yeon’ and ‘Cheon.’

After Mosu dies from illness, Yeon runs the beach motel on Mosu's behalf. Few guests visit the deserted place, and to make matters worse, the autnorities ordered to vacate the place due to shoreline erosion. Cheon and Hanna met as interviewee and interviewer and became lovers later. When Hanna returns to her ex-lover who is suffering from illness, Cheon, who is left alone, stays at Yeon's motel. There is nothing special about each day for the two who are left alone. They just sink within themselves in that vast ocean-like place and endure their individual losses.

While the two express the pain of loss, they also dream of the next, saying they should rest under the next cloud. Yeon and Cheon remember Mosu and Hanna, who left them, in their own ways and choose to still coexist with them. Therefore, believing there are days to begin again, and even after life ends and the world ends and there is an ‘after’, they wait for it.
