Description 작품 소개

This is a novel by Hwang Jungeun, which was first printed in the fall issue of Segyeui munhak (Literature of the World) in 2009, and published in the book form in 2010. In the same year, this book won the 43rd Hankook Ilbo Literary Award. It tells the story of good people who are exposed to structural violence and a life of painful reality, centered on the protagonist who works in a downtown shopping mall that is about to be demolished and turned into something new.

Hwang Jungeun황정은

Hwang Jungeun debuted in 2005 with “Mother,” which won the Kyunghyang Shinmun New Writer’s Award. She has authored the novels One Hundred Shadows, Savage Alice, and I’ll Go On, the short story collections Into the World of Passi, The Seven Thirty- Two Elephant Train, and Being Nobody. This year, she published the serial novel dd’s Umbrella. Her books in translation include One Hundred Shadows (Tilted Axis, 2016), I’ll Go On (Tilted Axis, 2018), and “Kong’s Garden” (Strangers Press, 2019).
