Kim Junghyun (1957-) is a South Korean novelist. Formerly a detective in the violent crime division, Kim debuted as a novelist in 1991 with the work Hamjeong (함정 The Trap). Kim is known for detailed depictions of the value of family in times of modern financial crisis and the dissolution of the family unit. Kim’s most famous work Abeoji (아버지 Father) became a nationwide hit and became the fastest-selling novel in Korean literary history.
