Born in Cheongwon, Chungbuk province, writer Kim Sun-young grew up playing in the forests and mountains of Cheongwon until the age of nine. She considered reading novels the most enjoyable activity during her school days and dreamt of making writing her profession in her teens and twenties. She wanted to write novels that could be a source of strength for struggling youth who may gain strength from them.
Kim Sun-young made her debut with the short story "Mil-ye" in the 2004 Daejeon Ilbo New Spring Literary Contest and won the 1st Jaeum&Moeum Young Adult Lit Prize in 2011 with "The Time Sellers." Her published works include the novel collection "Mil-ye," the youth novel collection "Wind Reading Method," and the novels "The Time Sellers," "The Time Sellers 2: Time for You," and "The Time Sellers 3: Time Beyond the Clock."
