Jung Young-su was born in 1983 in Seoul, Korea. He made his literary debut in 2014 when his short story “Nights in Lebanon” won the Changbi Prize for New Figures in Literature. He has published two short story collections; Aficionados and Tomorrow’s Lovers. He has gained a wide readership for his astute depictions of discord between people and the world—based on his unique lyricism and deft humor. He won the Mukhakdongne Young Writers’ Award for two consecutive years—firstly in 2018 and then in 2019, and received the 2024 Hyundae Literary Award.
