Published in 2014, this collection of selected poems by Do Jong-hwan presents works about love and sadness in a simple yet lyrical voice. His poem “You, My Hollyhock,” about his love for his wife, was published in 1986 and brought him critical acclaim. Time for High Tide was published in celebration of 30 years of his literary career since his debut as a poet, and the collection introduces 99 of his poems from ten of his previously published collections.

Do Jonghwan도종환

Do has been hailed for his use of simple, unadorned language in lyrical tributes to love and sorrow, underlined by an integrity informed by historical awareness. He emerged as a literary sensation with his second collection, Jeopsikkot dangsin, written in part as a tribute to his deceased wife who reminded him of hollyhocks.
