This novel by Kim Kyunguk was published in 2007. It was originally serialized in Literature and Society from the summer of 2006 to the spring of 2007. The novel tells the story of Dutchmen who arrived in Joseon by accident, and follows them as they learn the ways of the people of Joseon and also carry out the orders of the king. The author gives a reconstructive account of Joseon through the eyes of a Dutchman and Westerner living in the East as an isolated foreigner.
