Description 작품 소개

The main character supports her whole family working part-time jobs. Her mother is an alcoholic, her brother – migrates, her sister barely manages at school. A fleeting relationship with Cheolsu ends when he’s sent off for obligatory military service. One day, she decides to pay Cheolsu a visit at the training ground and her journey becomes a pursuit of a shadow of someone who is nowhere to be found.

The Korean writer, Bae Suah, charms her readers with a dense story of an overwhelming daily struggle from which one escapes into either imagination or apathy. But imagination, if one were to lose control, may turn a dozy, known environment into new and disturbing space.

Bae weaves a story that changes meanings with each reading. Between the lines she asks: who determines who we are? The world or our own perception of us?
