Książka zawiera teksty w języku polskim, koreańskim i angielskim.

The purpose of this book, the first such study in Poland, is to introduce the most important and representative works by Na Tohyang, a talented Korean story writer of the 1920s, to the Polish students who are studying Oriental literatures.

The author of this book describes the political situation in Korea at the end of the 19th century and in the first three decades of the 20th century and presents Korean literary circles of that time. After presenting the biography of Na Tohyang she analyses his writings from typological and sociological points of view.

In the final chapter the author presents the opinions of Korean critics on Na Tohyang s writings and formulates her own opinion on Na Tohyang s literary output and on his contribution to Korean literature.

As an appendix, the text of Na Tohyang s representative short stories in Korean script is attached.

Jest to analiza twórczości Na Tohyanga (1902-1927), utalentowanego prozaika korańskiego lat dwudziestych XX wieku, którego spuścizna literacka obejmuje nowele, opowiadania i powieści. Autorka przedstawia biografię pisarza na tle historycznym, uwzględniając dramatyczne losy Korei w pierwszej połowie XX wieku. Omawia też proces kształtowania się literackiego języka koreańskiego oraz twórczość innych prozaików tego okresu. Na tym tle analizuje dzieła Na Tohyanga zarówno pod względem treści, jak i formy, prezentując go jako nowatora i prekursora nowej literatury, lecz zarazem kontynuatora najlepszych osiągnięć tradycyjnej prozy koreańskiej.
