You Jeong Kim is a full-time freelance translator based in Seoul, specializing in translating from Korean to English. She holds a BA in English literature and two MS degrees in business and international affairs. She is the co-winner of the 2016 Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards Commendation Prize in Fiction.
Having completed the Special, Regular, and Atelier Courses at the Literature Translation Institution of Korea, she received translation grants from LTI Korea for works such as Keum Seongjun's The More The Merrier (N분의 1은 비밀로) and Lee Kkochnim's The Girl You Want to Kill (죽이고 싶은 아이) in 2023. Another of her passions lies in translating Korean movie scripts into English, and she has contributed to numerous such projects. She also edited Pak Kyongni's The Age of Doubt and provided commentary translations for this work.
For several years, she has collaborated with the Korean Publication Industry and Promotion Agency (KPIPA) on sample translations.
