Kim Kwangsup (1904-1977) was a South Korean poet who translated and published 現代英吉利詩壇 on Samcheolli in 1933 and debuted in the same year through Shin Dong-A with the poem “Gae inneun punggyeong” (개 있는 풍경 Landscape With Dog). Kim wrote in resistance to Japanese rule and wrote on nationalism and patriotism. Kim Cheontaek

김천택

Kim Cheontaek was a poet and compiler of anthologies who worked during the reins of King Sukjong (肅宗 r.1674-1720) to King Yeongjo (英祖 r.1724-1776) in the late Joseon period. He was a gagaek (歌客 professional singer-poet) who emerged at the end of the seventeenth century who collected historically important sijo (時調 literally Contemporary Tune; Korean traditional poetry). He compiled the Cheongguyeongeon (靑丘永言 Songs of Green Hills) in 1728 because he was wary of the disappearance of the Korean song. He also wrote about eighty poems that focused on the themes of longing to leave life to take its natural course, displaying pride in his music, and explaining social-class conflicts.
Jeon Bonggeon

Jeon Bonggeon (1928-1988) was a Korean poet. Along with Pak Inhwan, Kim Suyeong and Kim Jongsam, he represents the post-war modernist movement.1) With his unusual sense of language compared with his contemporaries in the 1950s, he wrote sensuous poems displaying vivid images, particularly associated with sexuality, with the intent of expressing the vitality of human beings.
Yi Cho-nyon

Yi Cho-nyon (1269-1343) was a sijo writer from the Goryeo era. When his criticism of King Chunghye’s hedonistic lifestyle went unheeded, Yi composed the sijo poem “Ihwae wolbaekago” (이화에 월백하고 The Moon Shines Serenely on the White Pear Blossoms), which metaphorically expresses one’s loyalty to one’s king.
