Shin Hankyun is a South Korean pottery artisan and novelist. Shin carries on traditional Joseon-era bowl-making techniques and displays his works at domestic and international galleries. In order to recreate the lives of Joseon-era pottery artisans who mastered Joseon white porcelain, which contributed to Japan’s economic rise, Shin wrote the epic historical novel Sinui geureut (신의 그릇 The Bowl of God) (2008). The novel tells the story of a Japanese pottery artisan who was dragged to Japan during the Imjin War. Bae Yoo-an

Bae Yoo-an (1957-) is a South Korean children’s writer. While working as a Korean teacher in middle schools and high schools, Bae published “Yumochareul tan gae” (유모차를 탄 개 The Dog in a Stroller) in the monthly magazine Children’s Garden in 2003 and officially made her literary debut in the same year when she published “Gochujamjarie daehan chueok” (고추잠자리에 대한 추억 The Memory of a Red Dragonfly) in Bulgyo Shinmun. Kim Yoonhee (1947~2007) was a South Korean novelist. She made her literary debut in 1984 with the publication of her novel Ireobeorin neo (잃어버린 너 The Lost You), which drew a lot of attention. Han Seung-won (Hangul 한승원; born 1939) is a South Korean writer. He primarily writes about people who struggle against their fate in Jangheung, a county situated off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula where Han himself was born. Han’s work tends to have a strong sense of place; his stories are often set in his coastal hometown and contain the local dialect.
