Cho Seonhui

"Cho Seonhui was born in 1960 in Gangneung, South Korea. After attending Gangneung Girls' High School and Korea University, she participated in inaugural issue of the Hankyoreh Newspaper and worked as a reporter for the culture section. She then proceeded to work on the inaugural issue of ""Cine 21,"" a weekly film magazine, and served as its Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Afer 2000, she left her reporting duties and wrote an essay ""In the Jungle, You Sometimes Become a Hyena,"" a novel , and a collection of short stories . She served as the Director of the Korean Film Archive from 2006 to 2009 and Director for the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture from 2012 to 2016. In 2005, she published a book on classic Korean films, titled . She began writing in 2005, taking two leaves of absence from her public posts in order to finish. took her 12 years to complete.
