Kim Un-su (Hangul 김언수; born 1972) is a South Korean writer. He studied Korean literature at Kyung Hee University, where he also completed master’s level coursework. He made his literary debut when his short stories “Cham shipgye baeuneun geuljitgigyosil” (참 쉽게 배우는 글짓기교실 Easy Writing Lessons) and “Danbaljang seuteuriteu” (단발장 스트리트 Danbaljang Street) won the Jinju News Writing Contest in fall 2002 and “Peuraidaewa gyeolbyeolhada” (프라이데이와 결별하다 Breaking up with Friday) won the Dong-a Ilbo New Writer's Contest in 2003. His novel Kaebinit (캐비닛 The Cabinet) won the 12th Munhakdongne Novel Award in 2006 and Tteugeoun Pi (뜨거운 피 Hot Blood) won the 22nd Hahn Moo-Sook Literary Prize in 2017. Seolgyejadeul (설계자들 The Plotters) was shortlisted for Grand Prix de Literature Policière.

Yi Chong-jun (This is the preferred Romanization per LTI Korea) was a prominent South Korean novelist. Throughout his four decade-long career, Lee wrote more than 100 short stories, 13 novels. He died from lung cancer at the age of 68 on July 31, 2008. Born in 1939, Yi Chong-jun graduated with a degree in German literature from Seoul National University. In 1965, he debuted with a short story titled Toewon (퇴원, lit. "Leaving the Hospital"). Two years later, he won a Dongin Literature Award for Stupid and Fool (Byeongsingwa Meojeori, 병신과 머저리). Yi is one of the foremost writers of the 4.19 Generation and his literary output since has been both steady in pace and considerable in volume, and his subject matter has been varied. “An Imbecile and an Idiot” (Byeongsin gwa mejeori, 1966) probes the spiritual malaise of the post-war Korean youth; This Paradise of Yours (Dangsindeurui cheonguk, 1976) explores the dialectics of charity and will to power, with the leper colony of Sorokdo Island as the backdrop; and The Fire Worshipers (Bihwa milgyo, 1985) meditates on the meaning of human rituals conducted in a Godless society when no ultimate guarantee of the absolute can be given. Lee Cheong-jun’s fiction encompasses a broad range of political, existential and metaphysical concerns.

Yun Yeo-rim (1970-) is a South Korean children’s writer whose publications include Urineun eonjena dasi manna (우리는 언제나 다시 만나 We Always Meet Again) and Maldeuri saneun nara (말들이 사는 나라 A Country Where Horses Live). Yi Kwang-su (1892–1950) was a Korean writer and independence and nationalist activist. His pen names were Chunwon and Goju. Yi is best known for his novel Mujeong (무정 The Heartless), sometimes described as the first Korean novel.

Gim Jeongbin (1953- ) is a South Korean novelist. He began his literary career by publishing a children’s story in The Chosun Ilbo in 1981. In 1982, he released his first children’s book, Gibbeumeuro bitnaneun namu (기쁨으로 빛나는 나무 The Tree that Shines with Joy), which was selected as an Excellent Book by the Korean Ministry of Culture. Published in 1982, his first full length novel titled Dan (단 Red), became a bestseller.
