Lady Hyegyeong
혜경궁 홍씨
“Now that I have reached my sixtieth year, I see that my remaining days are numbered(…) With the passing of time, I feel both my mind and strength will wane beyond what they are today, and thus, at my nephew’s entreaty, I shall write of the life I have lived. It is with profound emotion that I write, yet my weakening mind recalls not all of the past, and so I shall record only what I remember.”( Hanjungnok [ The Memoirs of Lady Hyegyong ], Munhakdongne Publishing Corp., 2010)
Lady Hyegyeong was the daughter-in-law of King Yeongjo, wife of Crown Prince Sado, and mother of King Jeongjo, who endured the Joseon palace during its most turbulent period.
