Jeong Jia

Born in Gurye, South Jeolla Province in 1965, Jeong Jia completed her doctoral studies in creative writing at Chung-Ang University Graduate School. Jeong debuted as a writer with her full-length novel The Partisan’s Daughter in 1990, with her short story Goyomnamu being selected as the winner of Chosun Ilbo New Writer’s Contest in 1995. Her collections of novels include Happiness, Light of Spring, The Forest Speaks, and Enemy of Capitalism. Jeong also earned recognition with various awards including Kim Yoo-jung Literary Award, Simhun Literary Award, Lee Hyo-Seok Literature Award, Hahn Moo-Sook Literary Prize, Today’s Novel Prize, and No Gun Ri Peace Award in Literature.
1965년 전남 구례에서 태어나 중앙대학교 대학원 문예창작학과 박사과정을 마쳤다. 1990년 장편소설 『빨치산의 딸』을 펴내며 작품활동을 시작했으며, 1995년 조선일보 신춘문예에 단편소설 「고욤나무」가 당선되었다. 소설집 『행복』 『봄빛』 『숲의 대화』 『자본주의의 적』 등이 있다. 김유정문학상, 심훈문학대상, 이효석문학상, 한무숙문학상, 올해의 소설상, 노근리 평화문학상 등을 수상했다.
