Korean novels loved across borders and language barriers!
This is the twenty-fourth volume in the Bilingual Edition Korean Contemporary Novels series, which features works by representative Korean authors translated into English and readable in both Korean and English. This set is divided into the following categories: freedom, love and romance, and north and south. The book is divided into categories of freedom, love and romance, and north and south, which are familiar issues in Korean contemporary history, but in order to help younger generations and foreign readers understand them, we have included brief explanations of the categories and short but in-depth commentaries on the authors' works and introductions to the authors.
Han Kang's “Convalescence,” the first Korean winner of the Man Booker Prize, tells the story of a woman who comes to the hospital with a burn on her ankle that has become nearly irreversible due to neglect. Through the story, the author depicts the fundamental pain of human life that cannot be forgotten and can never be healed. It also seems to say that embracing that pain is the only way to restore our lives.
