About Event

Launched in 1954, the Seoul International Book Fair is the largest book festival in South Korea, where publishers, writers, and readers come together to exchange knowledge and information. (https://sibf.or.kr/en/page/11)

The Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF) 2023 will be held from June 14 to 18 with the theme “비인간, 인간을 넘어 인간으로 NONHUMAN,” bringing together book creators and readers from around the globe.Under this theme, the fair warns about the potential catastrophe that may arise from the current human-centric approach to the world, as the ongoing climate crisis continues to contribute to and expose the inequality between humans and nonhumans.Can we prevent this impending disaster by resolving inequality between humans and nonhumans? If we fail to do so, what kind of world awaits us? Reflect on these questions as you explore a new balance between humans and nonhumans, and experience their mutual effects at the SIBF 2023!*Please refer to the schedule below for events related to Korean literature and translations.

2023 서울국제도서전은 ‘비인간, 인간을 넘어 인간으로 NONHUMAN’ 이라는 주제로 오는 6월 14일부터 18일까지 전세계의 책을 만들고, 책을 읽는 사람과 만납니다. 지금의 기후 위기가 인간과 ‘비인간’ 간의 불평등 때문임이 계속해서 드러나고 있는 것 처럼 이번 주제를 통해 인간을 중심으로 운영해가고 있는 세상은 결국 파국에 이를 수 있다고 경고합니다.인간과 ‘비인간’ 사이의 불평등을 해결한다면 그 파국을 막을 수 있을지, 파국이 온다면 그 후의 세상은 어떨 지, 2023 서울국제도서전에서 인간과 비인간, 둘 사이의 새로운 균형에 대해 탐색하고, 서로에게 주는 영향을 경험해보세요!*2023 서울국제도서전 행사 중 한국문학 작품 및 번역과 관련된 행사는 아래 행사 일정을 참고해주세요.
