After the jury's deliberation, the winner will be announced on December 12 through the website of the Korean Cultural Center in Spain ( https://spain.korean-culture.org ). The contest will award a single prize, worth three thousand euros , and the winning proposal will be used as the official cover of the first edition of Estela de condensación , whose publication by Editorial Quaterni is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 in Spain. Each participant must submit a proposal that includes the design of the front and back cover , inspired by the synopsis of Estela de condensación (see Annex I) .

1. REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION- Be of legal age and have Spanish nationality on the closing date of the call.

Join us for a close reading session exploring author Cho Nam-ju's international bestselling novel “Kim Ji-young, Born 1982” with Professor Immanuel Kim, 1-3 p.m. at the KCCDC on Oct. 31 (in English) and on Nov. 7 (in Korean)!*Please note that the Oct. 31 event (1-3 p.m.) will be conducted primarily in English and will utilize the English translation of the novel, for those who are not Korean speakers and those who are beginner learners.
*The Nov. 7 event (1-3 p.m.) will be conducted primarily in Korean utilizing the original Korean text, for those are speakers of Korean or are fluent learners at the intermediate level or above. Both events will follow a similar content program, but presented primarily in different languages. Participants are welcome to attend one or both events for the full experience!
Avid readers and those new to Korean literature are welcome. Bring an open mind as we navigate the complexities of modern life through the lens of Kim Ji-young’s story. As the Korean saying going, 가을은 독서의 계절 – fall is the season for literature!

The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) is proud to present Korean Literature Night with Gong Ji-young, on Friday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m., including a live video chat with the acclaimed Korean author of Togani (The Crucible), an in-person talk by University of British Columbia (UBC) Associate Professor Bruce Fulton on the importance of Korean short stories, and a screening of the 2017 animated short film The Shower (雨雨) by director Ahn Jae-huun, based on the classic 1953 short story of the same name by author Hwang Sun-won.
