[UNITED ARAB EMIRATES]Sharjah International Book Fair 2023
2023.11.01. ~ 11.12.
In honor of being selected as the host country for the 42nd Sharjah International Book Fair in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), we are organizing a Korean Literature Pavilion at the 2023 Sharjah International Book Fair. The representative theme of the Korean Pavilion is 'Limitless Imagination', with a total of 29 events and an exhibition of Korean literature books curated under the themes of the horizon of events, the palace of memory, the expansion of the senses, and the creation of the future. We look forward to your participation.
Unlimited Imagination
Centuries ago, theologians and scientists engaged in debates concerning the origin of a watch discovered in a desert, deliberating whether it was a creation of divine intervention or a product of natural forces. However, the true intrigue lies not in determining its creator but rather in contemplating the creative process behind envisioning such a watch amidst the sand. We firmly hold the belief that through unlimited imagination, we can unlock the means to actualize nearly anything. The Earth is experiencing a rise in temperature, necessitating urgent action to combat climate change. Simultaneously, the global population is growing, urging us to seek collective happiness. Korea, despite being a relatively small country with limited natural resources, is further challenged by its division due to military confrontation. Conversely, Sharjah is proactively preparing for the future by formulating innovative strategies to reduce its reliance on oil. In times like these, investing in culture appears to be a conspicuous choice.By harnessing the power of our unlimited imaginations, we possess the genuine potential to address many of the prevailing issues. Korea's expansive imagination offers valuable insights applicable beyond the realms of music, dramas, and films, serving as a catalyst for problem-solving across diverse fields. Meanwhile, Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates have demonstrated their ability to convert imaginative concepts into tangible reality, exemplified by their successful ventures into Martian exploration. The presence of Korea, with its plethora of books brimming with diverse imaginative narratives, is set to delight readers in Sharjah. Through the establishment of the Korean Pavilion at the Sharjah International Book Fair, we aspire to collectively embrace and realize the joyous and unlimited imagination that Korea has to offer.
